The story of 2 mandarin oranges

I have 2 mandarin oranges under one the chairs in my room. The reason why they're under the chair is because it's next to the bag of food my mother gave me when I went back for CNY.

The reason I'm telling you this is not to inform you of my inability to put things away immediately. Lets save that for another post. This post is about the oranges.

The oranges are still in perfect condition. They're still orange in color and retaining their original shape. It's amazing! It's not rotting or soft.

Which brings me to wonder, is it safe to consume mandarin oranges that last this long? It's been what, 3 months since CNY?? One has to wonder how much preservatives were pumped into the fruits to make them this long lasting.

I love eating mandarin oranges. However, I feel I should cut down on my consumption after these findings. Surely no good can come out of eating such heavily preserved fruits. Except perhaps well preserved organs.

Auntie Hasnah came over 2 nights ago. She wanted to eat something and found a mandarin orange in the fruit basket and proceeded to eat it. I didn't try to stop her though. First off, I didn't know it was a mandarin orange when she first took it and secondly, I sort of forgot. That orange too was still in perfect condition. Except maybe it has lost some of its juiciness.

I plan to inform my parents of my findings but I'll have to wait till the time is right. I have a strong feeling I'll be nagged for keeping them this long to begin with.
