We're into our 5th month!!
I meant to do this post last week, but I wasn't feeling very motivated so I didn't. We're about 21 weeks along now. Which is 5 months 1 week. My how time flies?
We did our detailed scan last Tuesday. Baby is healthy and thriving. Everything seems to be in order. Doctor scanned for abnormalities, thankfully, she found non.
She even said that our baby is tall. Hah!! A tall baby from me, who'd have thunk it??
Oh, as for the gender, tentatively, it's a girl! Yay!! I'm going to have a baby girl. How cool is that? Very. Girls are such fun to shop for. All the cute little outfits. I feel sorry for the little boys. There doesn't seem to be as many cute outfits for them out there.
The doctor did tell us to hold back on the buying though, till next month's visit. Just to reconfirm. My parents are certain it's a girl though. My friend Gillian says it's the 'season' to have girls now, as most of her friends are having girls. So she's pretty sure I'm having a girl too.
Either way, I'm just glad that the baby is fine and doing well. The baby's weight is 406gm, which is close to 1lbs.
We've come a long way. From the first month or so of puking and nausea and a flat tummy to no nausea and a bulging tummy.
I do suffer from different ailments now. Mostly in my feet. I can't stand/sit for too long as it'll cause pain in both feet. The doctor says I'm retaining water. I'm also finding it hard to fit into my shoes. They're getting rather tight. My calves stiffen if I sit for too long. Unfortunately, there's no remedy for this. The doctors only advice was to lie down with my legs propped up.
The recent blood test results were okay. Except for the fact that I'm slightly anemic. I'm slightly below the acceptable blood count value. So doctor prescribed me some supplements and told me to eat meat.
There's one thing she forgot to mention though, iron supplements cause constipation. Which isn't much fun, given that I'm already constipated enough on my own as it is. I don't need a supplement for that.
I suppose I'll have to deal with it. So far, I've been taking prunes daily (when I remember that is) to help 'ease the flow'. I'm out of prunes though. You know what that means.
My belly is getting surprisingly round. I don't have month by month photos of my belly though. Silly me. If I remember, I'll snap a photo of my current belly. For posterity.
I think we have got the baby clothing covered. We should have enough for the birth. Oh, and FOS is a great place to shop for baby clothes.
Baby kicks a lot now too. I can even see my belly move about when I lie down because of all the kicking she's doing inside. I'm thinking she's either redecorating or cleaning up her space. Either way, she does it alot.
Last night, she was cleaning up to 1a.m. Such a neat freak. She's in for a whole lot of disappointment once she comes into this world and sees how her parents room are. There are probably 3 colonies of dustbunnies living in this room. We've tried evicting them several times but they just come back. So we stopped trying.
I think she knows that her parents are slobs because yesterday, she kicked me in my ribs. Tsk tsk.. so young, so full of angst.
I've also put on about 4kilos in the past 5 months. I don't think I've gotten any bigger, but I do get hungry often nowadays. I am hosting a parasite after all.
Well, I guess this is all for now. My very baby account. Just putting it into words, in case I forget what it was like to be pregnant, somewhere down the line.
