Rediscovered

The Internet, when used wisely, is truely a wonderful thing. Even those who went pooh-pooh to whole idea back then would have no choice but to admit it now.

You can find absolutely everything under the sun on the Internet. All you have to do is type in your query and a slew of results will show. Provided you know how to for proper search queries in the first place. I have to admit that I am not so good at it, but I manage.

I never used to use the Internet much other than for chatting with my friends or strangers =) and other *ahem* stuff. Of course, back then I was running on dial-up and we all know how slow that is. It took me forever to download a 3mb file. I had to leave it on overnight just so I could complete the download. Good old days.

I don't think I can ever go back to dial-up. Call me a snob/elitist whatever I don't care. It's broadband for me. It's not the stoneage!! Sorry bad joke.

Anyway, nowadays, I use the Internet for a whole lot of other things. I.e. reading up on shows I'm currently watching, acquiring shows for me to watch, looking up recipes, reading reviews about things I might want to buy and getting my daily dose of tech news and worldly news.

I don't watch the news anymore. I hardly ever read the newspaper because I don't buy it and I don't get to uni in time to snag myself a free copy of The Star. (Yeah, I'm cheap too. Add that to the list of my other wonderful qualities)

I've also recently started googling my long lost friends. I normally don't expect to find much but sometimes I do. It's quite interesting. Give it a go, you'd be surprised with what surfaces.

I no longer chat online with my friends, or strangers. I find the latter rather pointless and time wasting. I cringe with I see the a/s/l? question. Although, I have to admit, that's how Aznin and I met. As for the former, well, most of them are busy and the rest, I just don't know what happened to them.

The Internet is also responsible for me getting in touch with more than one of my long lost friends. Infact, I've come in contact with 3 of my old friends. It's refreshing to re-meet old friends and find out what's going on in their lives. It's all rather nostalgic.

Last week, I found out that a certain blogger is dating someone who happens to be my family friend's grandson. I accidentally found out from the comments left from another reader. It somehow all clicked together and it was like "Eureka!!". Small world.

I have to say, I've rediscovered the usefulness of the Internet. I'm using it in more ways than I'd have ever imagined I would. Can't imagine a life without it now.
