It was my turn to cook today. Actually, my day is Wednesday but kak Liza and mama went out. Went to be traditionally massaged. Mama has been plagued with soreness in her joints. She was due for a good massage session.
Anyway, I started preparing for dinner at 5:30 after Asar prayers. Decided to cook chicken rice. Cooked the rice first. On the one day I decide to use the rice cup to measure the water for cooking the rice, the rice didn't turn out right. There wasn't enough water. Crap. Had to add water, chicken stock and then more water. I think the end product was quite good though. But then again thats my own biased opinion.
Then I went on to seasoning the chicken and preparing the vegetables for the soup. Heated the pan to fry the chicken. I hate frying. Not as much as some people but I still dislike it. Only fried 4 pieces of chicken. The rest was put in the special pan. No frying required. :) Mama said, no need to fry any chicken, put them all in the special pan. But Aznin likes the fried chicken. If I can't do that, what good am I?
The danger of frying is the splatter of hot oil. Unfortunately for me today, the hot oil caused bit of chicken to be projectile. One piece flew and hit my EYE!! Ouch! My eye watered for a while and I couldn't see properly. Wiped it a few times with a wet cloth. I think it's doing fairly well now. Guess I can now say for certain I'm actually not paranoid when I fear the possibility of being blinded by sharp objects or by walking into something. My fear does have some basis to it. :)
Was suppose to have OLT at 8. So had to have dinner first. Aznin hadn't come back at that time though. Decided to wait for him. He came back at around 8:30. Lecturer still hadn't turn up. So had dinner. It seems, the lecturer forgot. Har har. Class is cancelled and will be replaced next week.
Dinner all in all, was okay, I think. One niece ate a lot, the other had trouble finishing the little she had on the plate. I always thought I had learned enough from my mummy regarding the art of cooking (told you I was biased). But I think, I still have a whole lot more to learn.
This turned out to be a totally useless post. But hey, it's my blog. I'm allowed to saw totally useless things on it.

Food was good. No joke. All though we were joking about other things earlier. Don't take it to heart.
