** This is going to be a long one.
I have finally taken the bus to KL. I brought Aina along with me. Hehe.. Aina had a blast I'm sure. I bought her a Happy Meal, a dress for her Barbie, and a Nemo digital watch. What more could she ask for? Well, a lot more actually, but lets not go there. I went to Uni on Wednesday to submit my proposal and to see a Ida. We met in KL, had Mc. D and took the LRT back to Kelana Jaya. Dropped by Ida's house before going to Uni and then off to Giant. After Giant, we headed back to Ida's. I had to carry Aina though, because she was tired from all the walking she had done. Funny thing is, she wasn't the least bit tired when she was looking at the toys in Giant. :p Kids. Aznin (my husband) came to pick us up at around 8 p.m. seems, there was a traffic jam at Damansara. Just as well, since I was formatting Ida's pc anyway. He arrived a few moments after I had done formatting it. Which was great timing. I woke Aina up, (she had fallen asleep from exhaustion) and said our goodbyes. Got home at about 10 because we dropped by Carrefour to get some stuff. That was our fun filled exhausting wednesday.
I went to KL again yesterday. Followed my friend because she wanted to do some shopping. I left home with Aznin and he sent me to my friend's place. We went to KL at about 10:00 a.m. After buying her ticket at PUDU, we took the STAR to Masjid India. Just as we arrived, we found the area feeling extra hot. We thought it was just the afternoon heat, so we continued walking. When we reached our destination, we realized that the shop we wanted to go to had no electricity, damn. We however thought it was just an isolated incident because when we went into the next shop further down the road, it had lights on. So we went about our shopping. My friend got a call from her boyfriend and he told her that part of Malaysia was suffering from a power outage. Then we realized that the problem was much bigger than thought. I called my husband, to see if he was fairing better than I. He told me that his office was affected too, however, he couldn't leave his office because they had a generator. Hehe. So much for leaving the office early. :p
After paying for the items, I had to use the little girls room. So we decided to walk to SOGO. Upon arrival, we noticed a mob of people outside of SOGO. We went closer to see what was going on. I saw a few SOGO employees standing outside the entrance doors, with the doors closed. They weren't allowing customers to enter. Not all of them anyway. A few were let to enter, after being given some sort of slip or something. The woman was saying, "I don't know what's up with TNB, but we can't let you in because we have limited power supply and most of our system isn't working". In other words, they fear you might rob them blind. So much for using the toilet there. We then crossed the street in hopes that we might be able to use the washroom in KFC. Tough luck. KFC's doors were closed and locked. So my friend and I decided to sit down and have a drink as we contemplated the situation we were in. After much drinking, and thinking, we decided to go to KLCC, in hopes that they have better power solutions there. So we walked back to the LRT station. We then passed the mosque. It struck me that the mosque was sure to have a washroom. So we went in and sure enough they had one. Woohoo.. I'm saved. I went in, queued, and did my thing. We continued walking. Bought ourselves drinks because it was scorching hot and we were thirsty, hot and tired. When we reached the station, the doors were closed. Duh, no electricity meant no train services. We sort of expected it, but thought maybe they had a backup plan or something. That idea went down the drain.
We were so tired from walking that all we wanted to do was find a place to sit and rest our tired bodies. Mc. D was closed though. But when we looked across the street, Burger King was lighted and the fans were turning. We were saved!! We crossed the streets and went up the steps. Initially, I wanted to sit outside under the fan, thinking that the inside was probably not air conditioned, but I decided to just check and see, and wallah!! the place was cool. OMG OMG OMG.. were we happy!! We entered the establishment and chose a spot to sit. We bought some drinks and some onion rings to munch on. As I was sitting there, enjoying the cool air and my drink, I realized the business Mc. D had lost out on because they didn't have backup power supply. It's all about proper planning i tell you. I was however wasn't feeling too well by that time. The constant change of climate was screwing up my system. Hot - cold - hot - cold, bad for body.
After sitting for a while, i noticed that the signage in burger king was lighted up. I figured that the electricity must be back. Turns out it was. :) Hehe.. smart. We waited a while to be sure cause the traffic lights and Mc. D across the street was still in darkness. After about 5 minutes, Mc. D was lighted and filled with people and the traffic lights were working. So we decided it's safe to go to the LRT station. I mean, the electricity was back, surely the trains would be working now right? Wrong.
The roller shutters to the station were still closed, and it was going to be that way for much much longer. When we got to the station, the doors were not opened. I heard one of the people working there talking to the mass of people that had gathered in front of the station that the doors would be opened "kejap lagi". Fine, waiting a while wouldn't hurt. So we waited. At first, we stood near the entrance, waiting for the doors to be opened so we could go to KLCC to buy some things at Body Shop. Speaking of Body Shop, I have a bone to pick with the people working at Body Shop, Shah Alam. But, that's for later. After what seemed like "kejap lagi", the door still wasn't opened. Another anxious customer asked the staff, when it'd be operational. He said, "lima minit lagi". Okay,.. 5 minutes more. By that time, my legs were already starting to feel the strain from standing too long. It had already been 15 minutes. I decided to move away from the crowd and stood at the side wing of the entrance where they had ralings for me to lean against. We waited some more. We killed our time by looking at passerbys and wondering what they were up to. There were plenty of students hanging around too. Don't they have homes to go to? What on earth are they doing loitering the streets of KL in their uniforms? Haih.. Kids.
After about 10 minutes more, we went back to the entrance to see what progress had been made. Not much. The staff said, "Sabar ye? Kejap lagi je ni". Hah! Another kejap lagi. All lies I tell you! Lies! I was starting to lose my patience and the feeling in my feet. Not good. There wasn't a decent place we could sit and we were starting to regret leaving the comforts that burger king was able to provide us. It was hot and we were getting irritated. Most of the people that were assembled at the entrance had already seated their tired behinds on the staircase and the pavements surrounding the station. I wasn't going to do that though. It's unhygienic. Was afraid of the worms that would crawl up my ass if I sat on the dirty floor. Har har. Even in times of distress I'm worried of such trivial matters. That's me. Plus, it'd be so unlady-like to sit on the floor.
To take my mind off the whole waiting forever issue, I took out my gameboy and proceeded to continue my Yoshi's Island game. I'm nearing the end! Woohoo.. But I couldn't concentrate. Too tired. So I stopped playing and went back to looking at people. I stopped paying attention to the LRT staff. He kept on saying "kejap lagi" and "5 minit lagi" periodically. Suddenly, there was this guy, taking photos of us. Oooh.. reporters! They must wanna put it in the papers. He started snapping photos. My friend and I decided to look sad and distressed for the camera. I wonder whether we're in the papers? Hmm.. He left after a while. The door still wasn't opened. Damn. More waiting.
After standing for an hour and fifteen minutes, the doors were opened. by that time, we had a sea of people behind of us. The office people must have arrived too. It was already 5:15 p.m. by then anyway. We rushed down to make sure we had a head start of the mob. Once arriving at the platform, we queued in front of the door. Behing the yellow box of course. Deep down, I knew that it didn't matter that we were in front of the queue though, for I was sure that some rude ass of a person was surely going to cut the queue. Sure enough, the rude ass of a person was this girl dressed in a black tee and jeans. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!! With her 'selamba' face, she walked right up to the front of the door (we were at the Masjid Jamek LRT station). If only I had the guts to tell her off. But I didn't. Damn my chicken gut ways. She just stood there like what she was doing was right. When right on top of her head, pictures were posted to tell passengers the right way to board the train. You're suppose to wait by the SIDE of the yellow box painted on the floor. Not stand in it you idiot. She seemed oblivious to it all though. These kind of idiots are the reason why it's so hard for passengers to get in and out of the train, causing the bottleneck. They just don't understand that you need to let people out to make room in the train for passengers that are getting on. All they want to do is just barge in with no regard for the people that are trying to get out and not miss their stop. Idiots.
The train that arrived was a jam packed one. It was FULL. So very full. People were pinned together with no space in between. The moment the doors opened, people just started pouring out while the mob of people were trying to get in. All at the same time. Idiots. The LRT staff was screaming for the passengers to NOT hold the doors open. It force the train to stop functioning if they did that. hah. Like they listen. My friend and I managed to get on the train without having any of our appendages crushed by the closing door. Phew thank god.
The train was so full. We were lucky to even get on. Plenty of people weren't able to. Every empty space was taken up by a person. I was at a disadvntage though, being height impaired, because with full trains comes the wonderful aromas. Deodorant, anyone? The air was stale and hot. Luckily, our destination was only three stations away. There was this one guy that was annoying me. He was holding something in his hand. Unfortunately, it was the hand that was holding on to the thing that was hanging from the ceiling of the train. The bottle kept banging on my head. :s Thankfully, this pakcik told the guy to put the item down cause it was hitting me in the head. Thanks pakcik!! Was very thoughtful of you. :)
We finally arrived the KLCC station. That was one uncomfortable ride but we were glad to finally arrive to our destination. We headed upstairs and I fed the machine my ticket and went out the other side. My friend however, wasn't as lucky. The machine wasn't accepting her touch 'n' go card. The problems were caused by the power outage. System was screwed up. The LRT staff were stopping the people from the other side from entering the platform too. Seems, the trains stopped functioning. Boy were we lucky to even arrive KLCC. Thank god! I waited for my friend to sort out her problem at the counter. After a while, she was done and we left the station and headed to KLCC. Yay!!
We went to Body Shop to shop for scents. I walked around while my friend chose what she wanted. When she paid for her items, she got a Body Shop bag because her purchase was more than RM20. Hey! I didn't get a bag when I shopped 2 at Body Shop 2 days ago. What's up with that? I asked the sales person and she said, you shopped last month right? I said, no, I shopped 2 days ago. Then she said, that's why, you should shop here. Ahuh. Hello, I live in Shah Alam. It isn't exactly easy to get to KLCC just to go to Body Shop so I can get my things. Silly. Well, there was nothing they could do about it. But I was pissed nontheless. I was deprived of my shopping bag. Incompetent people they have, at Body Shop Shah Alam. Bet they took my bag for themselves. tsk. I also bought some items for my hubby. Was a gift for his birthday. I bought some fruit scented bath and shower gel plus complimenting body lotion. I got myself a bag. ;) har har. Ann happy. We walked out after paying.
Halfway, I felt that the lady didn't add up my reward points correctly. I checked my people's card and I was right. 215 + 66 = 195. Does that seem right to you? Don't think so. I remember the lady telling me I had to spend another RM17 to get a RM35 voucher. But when she added my points after paying for the shower gel, she said, I had to spend another RM70. Wtf? I went back to get my points sorted out. She took the card, checked it. Initially she didn't believe me. I showed her the receipts. She counted and realized it was her mistake. HAH! Told you. Like I'd make a false claim and make an ass out of myself? Silly woman. She admitted that it was her mistake and told me I was now entitled to the RM35 voucher. I decided to get some scent for as my mother's birthday gift. Paid RM1. Double happiness.
Went to Parkson Grand after that to get a tiepin for my husband. Walked back and forth between counters (Goldlion and Bonia) looking at the perfect pin for him. Finally decided on Bonia. It was nice. Just as I was paying for it, Aznin shows up from behind me. Ooops.. hope he didn't see what I got. It's suppose to be a surprise. :p We left KLCC and went to 1 Utama. Aznin wanted to go to Mac Asia.
After 1 Utama, we sent my friend home and went home. That, dear readers was how I spent my Thursday. It was a tiring, but eventful day. It was a very fruitful one I must add. Despite the tired legs and sticky oily skin, I'm quite happy. :)
Happy weekend to all.
