My crazy weekend

I think, last weekend must have been one of the craziest weekend I had. Really. I don't think I'm stretching the truth. It involved a whole lot of traveling between states. I'll recap my weekend further..

My weekend started friday night. Afer my husband got back from work, we got ready to leave the house to catch our bus. We were going back to Johor, you see. So we showered, prayed, and left the house. We had already had Mc. D at 6, so dinner was already taken care off. Our bus was at 8p.m, so we couldn't afford to have dinner any later. Once we reached the Shah Alam bus station, we proceeded to look for our bus. The bus was there, but the driver wasn't. There were scores of people standing along the road that the bus was parked by, waiting for the door to be opened. Alas, that wasn't going to happen. Not in the next 30 minutes anyway. So we walked pass the people and my husband went to the counter to check out what was going on. He came back saying he was told that the driver wasn't around, yet.

And so we waited.. and waited.. and waited.. and waited some more. I was getting tired. We didn't have any place to sit after all. (That's what you get when you have a makeshift place posing as a bus stand) So we stood by the drain, waiting for some life form to open the doors to the bus. No one came. My husband made a joke saying that the bus driver isn't around, so they're sending their mechanic to replace him instead. Lo and behold, the mechanic soon arrived on his motorcycle. Hmm.. worrying sight, don't you think? He was holding a wrench and another tool. Can't remember what. He tinkered with the wiper, handed the tools to another person and rode off into the moonlight. Another guy joined the guy with the tools and together they busied with the bus. Something was wrong with it I guess.

Tired of standing, and deciding that we wouldn't be leaving anytime soon, I suggested we sit on the pavement across the road. There were a few people sitting there after all. So we landed our royal bottoms onto the hard pavement. I dug out my pda from inside my bag and played some games. All that waiting made me hungry and I had nothing to munch on, so I had to distract myself with something. Few minutes later, people started boarding the bus. I put my pda away and we went up the bus. The bus finally left the station at 9p.m. An hour late from the original departure time. Annoying. That would mean I'd be arriving JB even later than normal. tsk.

That's one thing I hate about public transport. Express buses to be more specific. They never ever wait for you when you're late. Even if you're 5 minutes late. They just up and leave, without the slightest concern for you. Fact, I've had a bus I was catching leave a whole 10 minutes earlier than scheduled, because they managed to fill the bus. I bloody paid for it, but they left without me, and filled my seat with another customer to boot. Crap.

But when they're late, they give no explanation whatsoever. It doesn't matter if it's the bus that arrives late to the station or if it's leaving late. They can do as they please and we can't say anything. Well you could try, but it's not like they give a rats ass about what you, the paying customer thinks. It's the system. Or rather, the lack there of. Someone should really look into this if they want to have more satisfied customers.

Anyway, back to my story. We arrived at about 2a.m. or was it 2:30a.m. I forget. It was 2-ish though. We ate a little and went to bed.

Saturday was an uneventful day I think. We went out after 5p.m. and came back at about 8p.m. and went to bed early. Didn't do anything much. Just went out for food and came back. Had to rest up for the traveling we would be doing the next day.

My cousing was getting married. So we were going back to tangkak to visit. Hmmm.. no wonder it felt like de ja vu. I mentioned the wedding in my previous post. heh. We left for tangkak at about 11:30a.m. on Sunday. We were suppose to leave earlier, but as most of our plans go, they normally just stay plans. We reached tangkak at about lunch time. My relatives were having their lunch. We couldn't join them of course, because what they were having was non-halal. My relatives are still non-muslim after all. So we politely said we had already eaten our lunch so as to not make them feel bad for not having anything for us to eat. We stayed there till about three. Met many of my relatives. My uncle from Ipoh, which I have not seen since form 4, was there too. I was rather bored and hot as I was wearing an absolutely uncomfortable outfit. If it were left up to me, I would've worn a tee and a pair of khakis. But, I'm sure my mother wouldn't oppose so I didn't even try. I was attending a wedding after all. It was so so hot!! sheesh.. Since I was bored, I took some photos to fill my time.

After saying our goodbyes, we left for Malacca. We stopped at the Ayer Keroh rest area so we could all do what one normally has to do after downing three boxes of chrysanthemum tea. I took the opportunity to change my clothes. I sure as hell wasn't gonna stay in those clothes the entire day! We arrived at Malacca town at about close to four. Made a quick stop at Malacca Sentral (the bus station) to buy my husband's ticket back to Shah Alam. Unfortunately, all the tickets were sold out. I couldn't believe that such a thing could happen to such a sleepy town as Malacca. What? Did everyone decide to leave Malacca on the same day?? There was nothing we could do though. So we went back to the car and informed the parental units. I suggested going back to JB immediately to catch a bus there. But my idea was shot down, cause it would be tiresome and a wasted trip since we didn't know for sure whether tickets were available or not. So we did the next best thing, we went to eat.

We ate at Tesco. Had chicken rice. After filling our stomachs, we went to do our prayers. We walked about in Tesco after deciding that my hubby would take the taxi back to Shah Alam. I was rather apprehensive. After all, we've all heard the horror stories about what taxi drivers are capable of. But, since there was no other choice, there was nothing much I could do. So we walked about in Tesco till about 6++. I bought 3 shirts, 3 panties and 2 sleep shirt-dress type thingies. The shirts were such a steal. They were Tommy Hilfigers. And were selling at RM9.90!!! Of course their label had been cut out already as is the case with all branded clothes which are sold in such places. But I was happy nontheless. That explains why I bought three pairs of the same shirt. Different colors thought. ;) Happy, I am.

After shopping, we headed to the taxi stand. (which is also at Malacca Sentral) After walking all the way to the back of the bus station, we finally see the taxi stand. I thought getting a cab would be easy peasy. But no. Not quite. They wouldn't leave till they had 5 passangers going to the same place. It's either that, or you'd have to pay for the entire cab. WTF! And it's not even cheap. It's so so so much more expensive than taking a bus. Rip off I tell you. Did I tell you how much I hate public transport?? A trip to KL costs RM33.00 from Malacca. But beggers can't be choosers. So we didn't complain. That much. Still, there wasn't enough people going to KL. and an entire cab costs RM109.00 Crazy. So, we thought, okay, maybe take the cab to Seremban. There was another guy that wanted to go to Seremban. So that made 2. 3 short. Oh Joy. The taxi guy told us to take a seat, and wait. So we wait.

We wait.. and wait.. no one turns up. hmmm.. Things aren't looking up for us. We were talking, and suddenly the guy sitting in front of us asked us where we were headed. My hubby said Seremban. Then he said, me too! Maybe there is hope yet?! We asked whether he'd like to share a cab with us. The he went on this annoying rant on how he was suppose to catch a bus but there was no tickets left.. bla bla bla. He looked a little worried too. Tsk.. As if anyone is interested in 'doing anything' to him. (He was a bit of a softie) Then the other guy that was going to Seremban sat beside the softie. Asked him the same question. And that guy went on his rant again. Oh My GOD! Enough already. No one is interested in even laying a finger on you. Geeez.. He finally said yes, he'll join the cab. But then, he backed out cause someone came to fetch him. Haih. And then there were two.

Finally, my mother decided we'd just send my hubby to Seremban. Phew!! No threat of crazy taxi driver doing crazy taxi driver stuff to my hubby then. Off we went. To Seremban! Wheeee... Took about 45 minutes, one wrong turn and one illegal U-Turn to reach the Seremban KTM station. But we reached in time for him to catch the second last train to KL. We said our goodbyes and sent him on his way. Yay! All is well again. Now it's back to JB. Daddy decided to stop by in Malacca (again) to have seafood. But when we got there, the place wasn't opened. Damn. Wasted trip. This place is in Muar. It's called Alai. The seafood is super yummy and cheap too. That's why we go there alot. Too bad my taste pallate wasn't going to be treated to seafood that night. So it's back to JB.

We stopped at Pagoh R'n'R to carry out our prayers and have some food. I had Mee Hoon Soto. Quite nice, but the serving was rather small. Oh well, could use the weight loss. Heh. There was this creepy old lady in the prayer room with me and my mum. She asked us where we were going. My mum signalled not to talk to her. I tried not too. But she asked me again and I had no choice but to answer. She asked where we going and I said JB. and she said, oh, that's where I'm headed too. She went on to say she sells medicine. "Makcik jual ubat" she said. Asked me if I wanted to take a look. I shook my head, signalling I wasn't interested. Hell No!. I don't wanna look. Creepy. She left soon after. Phew! I was relieved. It was 1 In the morning after all. Must stop watching horror films.

Reached home at about 2a.m. I used what little energy I had left to shower and went straight to bed. I told you my weekend was hectic. So much traveling, so little time. Well, might as well do it when I'm young. he he.. Well that wraps up my weekend. Till my next weekend adventure.

Hmm.. I think I'll be going back to Kedah next weekend..
